Wade Hampton Rich, son of John Rich and Rebecca Thompson, was born on 22 April 1841 in Burke Co., NC. Wade enlisted in the in Co. F, 26th Inf. Regt. NC on 9 August 1861 at Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.7463 He appeared in the census on 22 April 1910 in Umatilla, Lake Co., FL.7464 Wade died of infirmities of old age on 17 January 1915 at the age of 73 at home in Globe, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Maple Grove Cemetery in Collettsville, Caldwell Co., NC.7465 The 1900 Rabun Co., GA census lists the family of Wade H. Rich, born Apr. 1840 in NC with wife Melissa C., born May, 1860. Included in the family were sons Ruffus R., born Apr. 1884, George, H., born Mar. 1886; Louisa M., dau., born Feb. 1890; sons Joseph B., born May, 1892; James G., born May., 1894; Charles D., born Mar., 1898 and Samuel A., born Sep., 1870 and his family. Sam's family consisted of Mary C., wife, born May 1879; Charley B., born Aug., 1898; John A., born Jan., 1899, and Maud L., born Apr., 1900. A follow up to this by Lloyd Coffey [e-mail, Feb. 23, 2010, subj: Millie E. Coffey] revealed that Melissa C. was Melissa Callie Bristol and, that she and Wade had an additional son, Henry Samuel Rich, born Apr. 16, 1902, died May 10, 1964 in North Carolina.
