1978. Louisa A. Coffey was born on 6 July 1847 in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC. She lived with her parents in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC on 30 July 1850.

In 1850 this child was enumerated as Eliza, age 1. If that is not an error, then the Louisa Coffey attached here could belong to a different Coffey family. She lived with her parents in Johns River Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 20 July 1860. Louisa died of paralysis on 24 May 1922 at the age of 74 in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Cool Springs Cemetery in Boone, Watauga Co., NC on 26 May 1922.⁷⁵³¹

Louisa A. Coffey and Jesse McAbee Hartley were married in 1868 in Watauga Co., NC. They appeared in the census on 20 June 1870 in Blue Ridge Twp., Watauga Co., NC.⁷⁵³² They^⁷⁵³² appeared in the census on 9 June 1880 in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.⁷⁵³³ Louisa and Jesse^⁷⁵³³ appeared in the census on 7 June 1900 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.⁷⁵³⁴ Jesse McAbee Hartley, son of Thomas Jefferson Hartley and Clarissa Elizabeth Mitchell, was born on 29 August 1846 in Watauga Co., NC. Jesse died in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 19 June 1905.

Family history relates that during the Civil War Jesse served in Co. B. of the 21st Virginia Cavalry. He was captured twice and served as a POW at Point Lookout in Maryland and at Camp Chase in Ohio.
