She was the widow of Clarence Wesper Coffey, who preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Coffey was born September 6, 1909 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Rev. George Thomas and Myrtle Edith Mines Webb. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Coffey is survived by three daughters: Helen C. McCraw and husband William of Pamplin, Ruby E. Woodall of Appomattox, and Alice McDonald and her husband Robert of Lexington; one sister, Elizabeth W. Leary of Hot Springs; two half brothers, George Thomas Meadows of Hot Springs and Thomas Lee Meadows of Alabama; six grandchildren: Lisa Wilson of Roanoke, Greg King of Blacksburg, Dennis King of Richmond, Mason King of Lynchburg, James Wilson of Sydney, Australia and Wesley Wilson of Richmond; five great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and Basil King, a special friend of the family. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. A funeral service was held at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roland Grenouillou officiating. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Dunlap Rescue Squad, 4115 Midland Trail, Covington, VA. 24426 or to the charity of choice.
