Amherst, Va., June 27, - Mr. Powell Crawford and Miss Alma Coffey, of Coffeytown, in this county, left Amherst this morning for Pelham, N. C., where they expect to be married. Miss Coffey is a daughter of Mr. Daniel [sic] Coffey, and is only sixteen years of age. On account of her youth, her parents refused to give their consent. They^{^28222,28223} appeared in the census on 25 April 1910 in Rockbridge Co., VA.²⁸²²⁴ They^²⁸²²⁴ appeared in the census on 22 January 1920 in Amherst Co., VA.²⁸²²⁵ Alma and Thomas^²⁸²²⁵ appeared in the census on 4 April 1930 in South River Dist., Rockbridge Co., VA.²⁸²²⁶ Thomas Powell Crawford, son of Thomas Reed Crawford and Mary Frances Ogden, was born on 12 July 1884 in Virginia.¹³⁵³¹ He lived with his parents in Pedlar Dist., Amherst Co., VA on 16 June 1900.

His age was given as 15 years with birth date of Aug., 1884 in the 1900 census. He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918²⁸²²⁷ He registered for the draft on 27 April 1942 in Buena Vista, Independent City, VA²⁸²²⁸ Thomas died on 9 September 1957 at the age of 73 in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA and was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.
