"John Woodson Coffey, 85, of 6504 Stuart ave., a retired guard at the State Penitentiary, died Tuesday. He was a member of the Boulevard Methodist Church.

"Survivors include five sons, Donald M. and Claude C. Coffey of Newport News, Thomas H. Coffey of Lynchburg, Roy G. Coffey of Sandston, and Guy W. Coffey of Richmond; four daughters, Mrs. Corrine C. Steppe, Mrs. Vernelle C. Butler, and Mrs. Geneva C. Hertless, all of Richmond, and Mrs. Lucy C. Owen of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, A. R. Coffey of Lowey, and three sisters, Mrs. C. B. Jones of Lynchburg, Mrs. E. B. Smith of Amherst and Mrs. C. G. Watts of Pleasant View.

"A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery."

Mrs. Nevie C. Coffey, 76, of 6504 Stuart ave., died Monday. She was the wife of John W. Coffey. She was a member of Boulevard Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Corinne C.
