Gilse D. Coffey, 83, retired coal miner, died suddenly August 23 at his home in Revelo.

The son of Joseph and Ada Strunk Coffey, Gilse D. Coffey was born March 25, 1878 at Flat Rock, Ky. The family later moved to Scott County, Tenn., where he lived until 1927. He lived in McCreary County for 33 years.

He was married May 12, 1895, to Hannah Crabtree, who preceded him in death.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Nora Hughes, Sloans Valley, Ky.; Mrs. Martha Merril, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Pearl Perkins, Pine Knot, and Mrs. Beulah Swain, Cincinnati, and one son, Willard Coffey, Revelo. A son, Bill Coffey, and a daughter, Cassie Coffey, preceded their father in death.

Funeral services were held from the First Hickory Grove Church of which church he was a member, Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eve? King and Rev. Maynard Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bernard Kidd, Leslie Patrick, Charlie Taylor, Earl Privett, Luther Trammell and William Shelly.

She lived with her parents in Marsh Creek, Whitley Co., KY on 9 June 1880. Hannah died on 13 September 1951 at the age of 72 in McCreary Co., KY and was buried at Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery in Stearns, McCreary Co., KY.¹¹⁹⁵²
