He lived with his mother and step-father in Grainger Co., TN on 12 June 1880. John died in Grainger Co., TN on 27 August 1931. He professed faith in Christ at an early age, joined the church at Cedar Springs later he moved his membership to Dry Valley where he lived a faithful life until death. He was married to Martha Coffey about the year 1884. To the union was born nine children, four girls and five boys, three of them preceded him. Brother J. C. Coffey left August 27, 1931. He leaves a wife and seven [sic] children to mourn the loss, but their loss is his eternal gain. He is gone to heaven to rest (?) forever more. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. M. Young. White21832 were married on 30 May 1883 in Grainger Co., TN.21833 They21833 appeared in the census on 2 June 1900 in Grainger Co., TN.21834 They21834 appeared in the census on 3 May 1910 in Grainger Co., TN.21835 John and Martha21835 appeared in the census on 3 June 1920 in Grainger Co., TN.21836 They21836 appeared in the census on 26 April 1930 at Dry Valley Road in Thorn Hill, Grainger Co., TN.21837 Martha J. White was born in 1862 in Tennessee. She appeared in the census on 6 May 1940 in Grainger Co., TN.21838 Some genealogies report her maiden name as Wyatt. However, there are no Wyatt families in the Grainger county census record for 1880. There was a Peter White family residing next door to Orena (spelled Lorena in 1880) and her new White family. The Peter White family included a daughter named Martha J., age 18. Looking back at the 1870 census we find the Peter White family with a son named John included in the household. It appears then that Orena married John White, a son of Peter, and that her son, John C. Coffey married John's sister, Martha White. John C. Coffey and Martha J. White had the following children:
