Dolores died on 14 December 2003 at the age of 74 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Ingham Co., MI and was buried at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI.43336 Daily Telegram, Adrian, MI, 05 Jan 2004 MASON: Dolores Jean Coffey, age 74, of Mason formerly, of Tecumseh, died suddenly, Dec. 14, 2003, at E.W. Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. She was born May 31, 1929, in LaSalle, Mich., the daughter of James and Naomi (Griffith) McKenzie. On Nov. 27, 1947, she married Charles G. Coffey in Angola , Ind. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2003. Dolores was a graduate of Tecumseh High School Class of 1947. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Charles, who was an Officer in the U.S. Navy. Together they lived throughout the United States and overseas. When Dolores enjoyed better health, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh, serving as an Elder. She enjoyed sewing, and was an avid reader, loving mother and devoted grandmother. Dolores is survived by two sons, Jack (Maemi) Coffey of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles Gillette Coffey, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl (Philip) Gamber of Mason, Mich.; five grandchildren, Nathan, Meghan and Grace Gamber, all of Mason, Mich., Jeremy Coffey of Washington D.C., and Corey Coffey of Columbia, S.C.; and two sister, Lenore (Simon) Steele of Bradenton, Fla., and Elizabeth (James) Ford of Citrus Heights, Calif., and a brother, Rustler McKenzie. In addition to her husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother David, and a granddaughter, Stacy Coffey. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Mr. Pat Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to funeral services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
