9740. Asa Coffey was born on 1 March 1889 in Rushtown, Scioto Co., OH. He registered for the WWI draft on 5 June 1917 in Lima, Allen Co., OH.29395 Asa died on 4 November 1929 at the age of 40 in Lenawee Co., MI and was buried at East Cairo Cemetery in Cairo, Allen Co., OH.29396

Wabash Section Man Killed East of City - Asa Coffey Stepped in Front of Passenger Train
Asa Coffey of Holloway, aged 40 years and a Wabash section foreman, was killed instantly at 11:10 o'clock today when struck by westbound Wabash passenger train No. 1, due in Adrian at 11:23. Coffey, who with the section crew was working on the tracks three miles east of Adrian, had stepped off the right of way while a freight train passed on the eastbound track. Just after the freight train passed he stepped onto the westbound track directly in front of the passenger train. His body was brought to Adrian on the train and Dr. C. H. Heffron and Coroner Win C. Lewis were called. They decided no inquest was necessary and the body was taken to the Mott & Son funeral home. Mr. Coffey is survived by his widow and a daughter, Wanda, aged four years. Asa Coffey and Wilda Sterling were married on 1 February 1918 in Allen Co., OH. They were divorced on 15 March 1924 in Allen Co., OH. Wilda Sterling was born on 2 March 1895 in Allen Co., IN. Wilda died in Auglaise, Camden Co., MO on 9 May 1963.

Asa Coffey and Mabel F. were married. Mabel F. was born circa 1925.
