4372. Joshua Elmo "Jerry" Coffey⁵¹⁴³ was born on 3 May 1857 in Staunton, Independent City., VA. He lived with his parents in Rockcastle Co., KY on 18 June 1860. He lived with his parents in Lyndhurst, Augusta Co., VA on 12 August 1870. Jerry lived with the Bridenbaugh family in Waverly, Pike Co., OH on 4 June 1880. He lived with his daughter Edith Hartman in Wayne Co., OH on 16 April 1930. Joshua died of prostate cancer on 23 October 1934 at the age of 77 at home on W. Kildare Ave. in Lima, Allen Co., OH and was buried at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton, Allen Co., OH on 25 October 1934.^{14109,14110,14111}

Joshua Elmo Coffey was born 3 May 1857 and was the son of Jesse C. Coffey and Nancy F. Allen of Nelson County, Virginia. Just prior to the 1880's Joshua (aka Jerry) moved to Pike County, Ohio where he met his future wife. During a brief period after he moved to Ohio, he was in Dingess, Mingo County, West Virginia where it is believed he worked the coal mines.

On 8 Mar 1881 in Pike County, Ohio, he married Emma Briedenbough, daughter of Valentine Briedenbough and Elizabeth Loney. Joshua and Emma had six children:

Elmer born 28 March 1883; Edith born 27 June 1885; Asa born 1 March 1889; Patrick born 10 September 1890; Grover born 22 August 1892 and Hazel born 29 March 1897.

Joshua and Emma lived in various parts of Ohio throughout their lives. He was employed as a trackman by the railroad and continued to work for the railroad until his retirement in the later part of the 1920's. Joshua and Emma enjoyed growing vegetable gardens which helped supplement their income. Emma was known for her homemade wine and Joshua was known for his great sense of humor.

Emma died in 1927 and Joshua died in 1934. They are buried at East Cairo Cemetery in Allen County, Ohio, alongside several of their children and siblings of Joshua.

She was also known as Emma Breitenbach after 1900. Emma died cervical cancer on 26 May 1927 at the age of 68 in Creston, Wayne Co., OH and was buried at East Cairo Cemetery in Cairo, Allen Co., OH.^14118,14119
