She worked in the garment district as a seamstress. During WWII she worked at Bendix and at the Union Station as a mail and telegram carrier. After the war she worked as a beautician. She raised four children from 1949 until 1983 when she started volunteer work. She volunteered at North Kansas City Hospital as well as their Auxiliary and the Nearly New Shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City. Survivors include sons, Joseph D. Lechner and James D. Lechner, and daughters, Melanie A. Taylor and Marie A. Freed, all of Kansas City; and 12 grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and inspiration to her family and friends. All who knew her were blessed by the love she shared. (Arrangements: D.W.
