W. Coffey, 79, Dies; Lexington Contractor Lexington - Walton Wilmouth Coffey, 79, senior member of W. W. Coffey and Son, Inc., local building contracting firm, died Wednesday after a long illness. Mr. Coffey built the Mayflower Hotel on South Main Street in 1930, where he and his family lived until Dec. 1, 1941, when he sold it and built the Coffey Apartments on Main Sgreet. He was a charter member and elder in Grace Presbyterian Church, and was a member of Gideons International and secretary of the Rockbridge Gideons. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula McCormick Coffey of Lexington; two sons, James F. Coffey of Lexington and S. Sgt. William T. Coffey, stationed in Vietnam; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Yeager of Lexington; a brother, W. A. Coffey of Roanoke; and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Bruin of Draper. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Wednesday.
