HAMPTON - Kenneth M. Coffey Sr., 80, passed away at home on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012.

He was a native of Afton, Va., and a resident of Hampton for the past 40 years. Kenneth was loyal to his country and proudly served 22 years in the U.S. Army, including conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. He retired from Fort Eustis, Va., as a First Sergeant in 1972. He later worked as an auto mechanic, retiring due to disability in 1985.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Frances Coffey; sons, Jeff and Kenneth Coffey Jr. of Florida; daughters, Alice Meyers of Delaware, Alisa Grogan of Hampton, Va., Tammy Forrester of Indiana, Catie Shingleton of Maryland, and Terri Fickes Yancey of Waynesboro, Va.; a brother, Carroll Coffey of South Carolina; a sister, Janet Jones of Roanoke, Va.; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Clark; and three brothers, Boyd, Wayne, and CM Coffey.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, also as the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
