Joseph Wayne Coffey, six year old boy who was struck by a truck near Afton at 8 a.m. Wednesday died at the Waynesboro Community Hospital at 12:10 a.m. today.

A son of William F. and Gladys Dameron Coffey of Avon, he was struck as he dashed down a bank and into the road to catch a school bus. The accident occurred atop "Coon Hill" about eight miles south of Afton on Route 151 in Nelson County.

He suffered a fractured skull and a fracture of the left thigh, and was unconscious from the time of admission until his death, hospital authorities stated.

He was born Aug. 2, 1942 at Avon, and was a first grade student at the Rockfish Valley School.

Beside his parents he is survived by four brothers, Private Howard C. Coffey, U. S. Army, Ft. Houston, Texas; Kenneth M., 16; Clifton M., 14; and William B., 9; and one sister, Janet Mae, 11.

Also maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Dameron, Waynesboro; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Coffey, Tyro.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hebron Baptist Church, Avon, conducted by the Rev. B. F. Robinson, assisted by the Rev. Stafford E. Davis. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
