98. Elijah Coffey was born in 1788 in Wilkes Co., NC. He appeared in the census in 1840 in Wilkes Co., NC.³¹⁶ He appeared in the census on 11 July 1860 in Forsyth Co., GA.³¹⁷ Elijah died in Cumming, Forsyth Co., GA on 23 June 1864 and was buried at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming, Forsyth Co., GA in June 1864 .³¹⁸

Elijah Coffey and Mary "Polly" Hull³¹⁹ were married. They appeared in the census on 7 October 1850 in Rabun Co., GA.³²⁰ Mary "Polly" Hull was born circa 1790 in North Carolina.

In the supplement to the 1984 Marvin Coffey book, Marvin wrote that Katie Dunn, a great-granddaughter of Alfonso was actually named Alfred Alfonso. Katie has a sort of "autobiography" of Alfred, and in it he says that his mother's maiden name was Heulme. Elijah may have been married twice, or perhaps three times. Another researcher, A. A. Coffey says that Alfred Alfonso married Julia Dawkins, a daughter of John Dawkins and Mary Wheeler, in 1857.
