Charlie Richard Coffey, April 15, 1931 - January 31, 2013

Charlie Richard Coffey, age 81, of Blue Creek Road, Lenoir, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the residence. He was born April 15, 1931 in Caldwell County to the late Howard and Edna Carlton Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clyde, Woodrow, Wilson, Earl and Baby George Coffey; and one sister, Hazel Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was retired Master Sergeant with the N.C. National Guard Army 14th 50th Transportation with 37 years of service. He was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Coffey and wife Virginia of Lenoir and Kenneth Coffey of Granite Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Greene and husband Rev. Billy Greene of Lenoir; former wife, Lucille Phillips Coffey of Lenoir; sister, Lois C. Herman of Lenoir; six grandchildren, Marsha Greene, Brent Greene, Cheralyn Coffey Setzer, Charles Coffey, Kimberly Coffey Philyaw and Leslie Coffey Williams; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Greene, Tanner Philyaw, Gunnar Williams, Tyler Setzer and Jordan Setzer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Billy Greene. Interment will follow at Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Brent Greene, Charles Coffey, Raymond Lovins, Ronnie Pennell, Tanner Philyaw and Tyler Setzer.
