Coffey, Joel Robert 82 Sept. 29, 1930 July 11, 2013 Joel Robert Coffey was born in Portland, attended Couch Grade School, Lincoln High School and received a B.S. from Oregon State University. He graduated in Air Force ROTC from OSU and, as a first lieutenant, served in the Korean War as an air traffic controller. His grandfather, Dr. R.C. Coffey, founded the Coffey Hospital, which later became Physicians and Surgeons. An independent insurance agent for 40 years, he specialized in marine insurance. He was a Portland School Board Custodial Oversight member for 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Josie; children, Rob (Aline), Ann Davis (Chris), Tom, Peter (Terry), Eric (Kara); and 15 grandchildren.
