Mr. Coffey was born on April 10, 1926, in Augusta County, a son of the late James and Mary Ann (Parnell) Coffey. Jim was a Presbyterian and worked for Frank Kerby and Sons for 47 years prior to his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Irene (Pleasants) Coffey. In addition to his wife, Mr. Coffey is survived his daughters, Kathy Williams of Afton, Sandra Coffey of Waynesboro, Becky Graves of Crozet, Debbie Pence and husband Van of Warrenton, and Joyce Coffey of Stuarts Draft; a son, Guy Coffey of Stuarts Draft; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Neil Willets and Roger Williams. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday January 25, 2014, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard McDowell officiating. Burial will held privately at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Martha was born on January 13, 1931 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Robert Wilford and Myrtle Alma Gertrude Brooks Pleasants. She married the love of her life, James E. Coffey on November 3, 1950, and became a full time homemaker raising their six children. Martha was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Ealy “ Jim” Coffey on January 22, 2014; a granddaughter, Katie Higgins; four brothers, Thomas, Harold, John and Robert Pleasants; three sisters, Linda P. Sweet, Helen Pleasants and Agnes P. Kelso. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Williams of Afton, Sandra Coffey Shifflett of Waynesboro, Becky Graves of Crozet, Debbie Pence and husband Van of Warrenton, Joyce Parrish and husband, Jeff of Waynesboro; a son, Guy Coffey of Stuarts Draft; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Clayton Payne and Chaplain Richard Ammons officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
