Callie Hall Coffey, 70, of Route 2, Stuarts Draft, was dead on arrival at Waynesboro Community Hospital at 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Coffey was a member of the Mt. Top Christian Church. He had been a farmer most of his life.

He was born June 6, 1898, at Love, a son of the late Henry Lee and Mildred Campbell Coffey.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Everitt Coffey; one son, Ira G. Coffey of Stuarts Draft; one daughter, Mrs. john (Ora Elizabeth) Smith of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Kelley M. Coffey of Lyndhurst and Owen Coffey of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Thompson of Lynchburg, Mrs. Rufus Campbell of Roseland, Mrs. Mary Hewitt of Lyndhurst and Mrs. Eva Coffey of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 12 noon Tuesday when it will be taken to the Mt. Top Christian Church where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Melvin Thomas, assisted by the Rev. Pettit H. Coffey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Saylor Coffey Jr., Manuel Hewitt, Ray Coffey, Douglas Campbell, Jessie Fitzgerald, and Brent Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Saylor Coffey Sr., Jake Hewitt, Forest Coffey, Hugh Coffey, Fred Coffey, Robert Harman, Reginald Bridge, John Smith, and Wallace Coffey. [Contributed by: jboppe@cfw.com]
