Elijah Coffey, 69, died Tuesday in Capitol Hill Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was a brother of Dock Coffey of 4219 W. 3rd and Ike Coffee [sic] of 2315 Victoria.

Burial will be in the Davis, Okla., cemetery. Funeral arrangements are pending in Oklahoma City.

Coffey Rites Set Saturday 

Graveside services for Elijah Coffey, 69, will be held at Green Hill cemetery, Davis, at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. Funeral services will be the same day at 10:00 a.m. in Central Hillcrest Baptist church, 6100 South Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City. Rev. A.L. Garrison, pastor, will officiate.

Coffey, a former resident of Davis, died Wednesday morning at Capitol Hill General hospital following a six-month illness. He had lived in Oklahoma City since 1941 when he left Davis. He was born Oct. 8, 1895, at Roff, I.T., and married Bertha Cops in June of 1915.

Survivors are his wife Bertha; two sons, James H. and Carl L., and one daughter, Mrs. LaSpella Cantrell, all of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; six brothers, Ardenelle, Arthur and Woodrow, all of Ada, Cleo of Pampa, Tex., Dock and Ike of Amarillo, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mae Webster of Ada, and Mrs. Maybelle McKell of Odessa, Tex.

Albert Coffey of Davis is one of the nephews.

Services for Elijah Coffey, 69, who died Wednesday in Capitol Hill General Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Central Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be in Davis under the direction of Vendel L. Smith Mortuary.

Coffey, a retired Tinker Air Force Base employee, had lived in Oklahoma City since 1942. He was a member of the Central Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; two sons, James 532 SW 44, and Carl, 5600 Shields; a daughter, Mrs. Don Cantrell, 2429 SW 78; Cleo, Pampa, Texas; Doc and Ike, both of Amarillo; Ardnelle, Woodrown and Arthur, all of Ada, and two sisters, Mrs Mabell McKell, Notree, Texas, and Mrs. Lillie Mae Webster, Roff.

Elijah Coffey and Alice Bertha Cops were married on 19 June 1915 in Davis, Murray Co., OK. They appeared in the census on 17 January 1920 in Midland Twp., Pontotoc Co., OK.40842 They40842 appeared in the census on 7 April 1930 in Turner Twp., Murray Co., OK.40843 Elijah and Alice40843 appeared in the census on 13 April 1940 in Davis, Murray Co., OK.40844 Alice Bertha Cops, daughter of Henry Cops and Hannah J. , was born on 4 June 1898 in Indian Territory, OK. She lived with her parents in Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation, OK on 23 July 1900. She lived with her parents in Lindsay Twp., Garvin Co., OK on 19 April 1910. Alice died on 28 December 1988 at the age of 90 in Oklahoma and was buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, Murray Co., OK.40845
