COAL VALLEY - Arthur P. Coffey, 75, of Coal Valley, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Trinity Rock Island.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with the Rev. Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion, Ill. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the church.

Arthur Patrick Coffey was born March 12, 1938, in Baltimore, to Arthur Charles and Ruth Lenora Wentz Coffey. He served in the U. S. Army, and married Doris E. Grim on Jan. 10, 1958, in Baltimore. He worked in the footwear business for several years, and retired as store manager at Select Comfort in 1999. He truly enjoyed being a lay minister for many years.

He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, and a former member of Rock Island Conservation Club. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed writing, reading, treasure hunting and remodeling.

Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Bill Collins of East Moline, and Bonnie and Randy Anderson of Alpha, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Christina, Joshua, Kimberly, Caleb, Denise, Phillip, Jacob, Kelly, and Stacey; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Sonya Coffey of Waynesboro, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Patrick Coffey.
