John died of a prostatic obstruction on 23 May 1937 at the age of 81 in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Globe Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.^{6442,6443,6444}

Horace died of cancer of the head and pancreas on 27 April 1949 at the age of 59 at home in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC and was buried at Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC on 29 April 1949.⁶⁴⁴⁹ This may be the Horace M. Gragg, born Apr. 6, 1890, died Apr. 27, 1949 and buried at Harshaw Cemetery on Collettsville Road in Caldwell Co., NC.
