BATEMAN HAMPTON - Wanda Kay Coffey Bateman, 50, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997. A native of Durham, N.C., she had been a resident of the Peninsula most of her life. Kay was the owner of Coffey's Harbor House in Buckroe. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Ruth Coffey; and a granddaughter, Samantha Sherman. She is survived by a loving and trusted friend, Annie Rife; four children, Kim Sherman, Sheila Gonzalez, Jack Bateman and Shawn Bateman; her brother and eight sisters, Tommy Coffey, Barbara Lehosky, Marlene Pennington, Deborah Brown, Theresa Coffey, Lenora Krajenke, Mary Baker, Jane Hobbs and Nancy Keenan; five grandchildren, Jessica Sherman, Cody Sherman, Tony Bateman, Amy Bateman and Ashley Bateman; and many, many beloved nieces and nephews.
