3973. Dr. Richard Nightingale Coffey was born on 2 March 1867 in Missouri.12853 He lived with his parents in Yates, Madison Co., KY on 22 August 1870. Dr. Coffey was in an automobile accident on 20 October 1915 in Lone Jack, Jackson Co., MO.

As Doctor Coffey was returning home from Kansas City last Wednesday evening he collided with the big Lone Jack truck. He had with him his little daughter, Margarate [sic], Fred King and William Wright. The three were thrown from the car, but the doctor stayed at the wheel. They received no injuries but all were pretty scared (?) from the jar. His Ford was demolished. Dr. Coffey died of acute cardiac failure on 22 January 1929 at the age of 61 in Jackson Co., MO and was buried at Lees Summit, Jackson Co., MO on 23 January 1929.12854,12855

Ellen Gano were married on 2 September 1893 in Jackson Co., MO.12856 They12856 appeared in the census on 6 June 1900 in Jackson Co., MO.12857 They12857 appeared in the census on 23 April 1910 in Elwood Twp., Barber Co., MO.12858 Mary R. Ellen Gano, daughter of William Gano and Naomi Hensel, was born on 1 November 1872 in Missouri. She lived with her parents in Pettis Twp., Platte Co., MO on 3 June 1880. Mary died of cardiac dilatation on 2 March 1916 at the age of 43 in Lone Jack, Jackson Co., MO and was buried at Lone Jack, Jackson Co., MO on 4 March 1916.12859,12860,12861

Mrs. R. N. Coffey of Lone Jack Dies.

Mrs. Mary [sic] A. Coffey, 43 years old, wife of Dr. Richard N. Coffey of Lone Jack, died of heart disease Friday at the home at the Lone Jack Hotel.

She was born November 1, 1873, near Parkville, Mo., and is survived by he husband and three children, George, 21; Erval and Margaret.

Funeral services were at the home yesterday afternoon. Burial was in the Lone Jack Cemetery.

Mrs. Coffey was a daughter of the late William Gano, who originated the Gano variety of apple.


Some genealogies name this daughter as Arilla Mae or Mae Arilla Gano. Her death certificate is not clear on that. It reports her name as Mary R. Ellen Coffey.

Pilcher were married on 22 July 1918 in Jackson Co., MO.12862 They12862 appeared in the census on 21 January 1920 in Lees Summit, Jackson Co., MO.12863 Mae I. Pilcher, daughter of James Pilcher and Anna Westerfield, was born on 2 November 1880 in Missouri. Mae died uterine cancer on 22 April 1933 at the age of 52 in Lees Summit, Prairie Twp., Jackson Co., MO and was buried at Lees Summit, Jackson Co., MO on 24 April 1933.12864
