Kerby Dead. Citizen of McKinney and Birthplace in Collin County. Special To The News. McKinney, Tex., Jan. 25.--John C. Kerby died at his home in this city last night and was buried at Forest Grove this afternoon. Mr. Kerby was a native of Collin County, having been born in the Forest Grove community Nov. 11, 1851, being a son of the late "Uncle" Wesley Kerby, who was one of the pioneer citizens of the county. Mr. Kerby married Miss Margaret E. Coffey Aug. 14, 1873, at the old Coffey homestead near Forest Grove. His wife, who survives him, is a daughter of the late Sayles Coffey, who was a most highly respected citizen of that community. Mr. Kerby resided at Forest Grove until a few years ago, when he moved to this city. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Frank Kerby of Forest Grove, Mrs. Zouria Dickens of McKinney, Mrs. Altie Garrett of Forest Grove, Gave Kerby, Mrs. Ida Mallow, Wesley, Paschal and Herschel Kerby.
