He lived with his parents in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY on 9 July 1860. Richard appeared in the census on 15 April 1910 in Rock Creek, Wayne Co., KY.¹¹⁷⁰³ Richard died in McCreary Co., KY on 6 August 1920 and was buried at the Coffey Cemetery in Yamacraw, McCreary Co., KY in August 1920 .^{3923,11704,11705,11706}
A submission to Coffey Cousins' newsletter by Rod Coffey in June 1999, page 10, provided information on a Wayne Co., KY Henderson Coffey, and his marriage to Catherine C. Jones. She was the daughter of William Jones and Polly Baker. Henderson was the son of Nelson Coffey and Kissah Watters. Rod also provided information on Henderson's brother, Joseph who married Louisa Jones, sister to Catherine.

Richard Henderson Coffey and Catherine C. Jones were married on 25 November 1867 in Wayne Co., KY. They appeared in the census on 24 August 1870 in Wayne Co., KY.¹¹⁷⁰⁷ They^{¹¹⁷⁰⁷} appeared in the census on 22 June 1880 in Wayne Co., KY.¹¹⁷⁰⁸ Richard and Catherine^{¹¹⁷⁰⁸} appeared in the census on 14 June 1900 in Wayne Co., KY.¹¹⁷⁰⁹ Catherine C. Jones, daughter of William McKinley Jones and Mary Jane Baker, was born on 27 March 1840 in Wayne Co., KY. Catherine died on 16 October 1901 at the age of 61 in McCreary Co., KY and was buried at Coffey Cemetery in Yamacraw, McCreary Co., KY.¹¹⁷¹⁰
