Oran Coffee and Frances Elizabeth Rock were married on 9 August 1931 in Pagosa Springs, Archuleta Co., CO.39558

"Mama'sRock's came to Quebec City in the 1600s as Rocque. French Canadian. Came to the USA 1880s or so as lumberjacks. Great Grandfather Rock was a sawyer at different mills. They lived in Colorado when mama and daddy met. Daddy and his father had gone fishing to Pagosa Springs. That was June. By August, daddy was back and proposed. Married by the [beginning]] of August."

  Frances Elizabeth Rock was born on 10 July 1912 in Pagosa Springs, Archuleta Co., CO. Frances died on 3 January 2004 at the age of 91 in Boerne, Kendall Co., TX and was buried at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Randall Co., TX on 10 January 2004.39559,39560

BOERNE - Frances Elizabeth Rock Coffee, 91, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Llano Park Cemetery in Amarillo with Randy Srader, pastor of Southwest Baptist Church in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Vaughan Funeral Home.

Mrs. Coffee was born July 10, 1912, in Pagosa Springs, Colo. She was raised by her grandparents, Luke and Wilhelmina Rock. She married Oran Coffee on Aug. 8, 1931, and moved to Amarillo.

Frances lived most of her life in Amarillo, where she was active in square dancing, PTA and San Jacinto Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout leader and Girl Scout Neighborhood Chairman for many years. After her husband Oran passed away, she played the piano and worked the snack bar at the Amarillo Senior Citizens Center. She stayed feisty to the very end.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Oran, a World War I veteran.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother, husband and one grandchild.

Survivors include four daughters, Ollie Ruth Coffee Kennedy and Ilah Coffee Merriman, both of Dallas, Mina Coffee Barringer of Kootenai, Idaho, and Kathy Coffee Simmons and husband, Jimmy, of Boerne; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family suggests memorials be to VistaCare Hospice Foundation, 420 Water St., Suite 104, Kerrville, TX 78028; or your favorite charity.
