Services are pending with Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel. Mr. Coffee, born in Miami, Texas, was married to Musa C. Carter in 1923 in Amarillo. He was a veteran of World War I. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad 40 years until his retirement. He was a Baptist. He was Past Master of Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731. He served as High Priest and Past Commander of Amarillo York Rite Bodies and was preceptor of Knights Templar Priests. He was a Past Sovereign of Red Cross Constantine (Crusader Conclave). He was a member of Khiva Shrine Temple and Retired Santa Fe Employees. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. B. L. Morgan Jr. of Amarillo and Mrs. G. P. Salisbury of San Marino, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Rharles Russell of Bovina; a brother, Guy of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Fifth, with Dr. Howard Batson of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Coffee was born in Miami to pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. S.G. Carter. In 1907, she moved with her family by wagon to Amarillo. She was valedictorian of the class of 1917 of Amarillo High School. She attended Baylor Belton College, the University of Texas and West Texas Normal College. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Coffee taught school at Alice Landergin Elementary School, Margaret Wills Elementary School and Miami High School. During World War II, she was an instructor of electronic systems of B-17s and B-29s. She was the first lay person to head a department at St. Anthony's Hospital, where she retired in 1967 as medical records librarian. She married William Cleaveland Coffee in 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and by a son, William C. Coffee Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Morgan of Amarillo and Peggy Salisbury of San Marino, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
