He married Jeanette Alcorn in 1975 in Taylorville. Mr. Coffey retired as a heavy equipment operator after 35 years at Christian County Landfill and Local 965. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. A member of First Baptist Church of Stonington, Stonington American Legion, VFW Post 4495 and the National Rifle Association. Survivors: wife, Jeanette; a daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Nancy) Briggs of Stonington; a stepdaughter, Karen Hall of Taylorville; a stepson, Leonard Durbin of Kincaid; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Porter of Taylorville, and Lillian Boldini of Stonington; and two brothers, Leon Coffey of Stonington, and Leland Coffey of California.
