Stonington - Roberta Ribelin, 51, of Stonington, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday at Decatur Mamocial Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Stonington. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery.

Shafer Funeral Home, Talorville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors are her husband, Herbert, one son, Mark, at home; three brothers, Richard Coffey of Taylorville, Leon Coffey of Stonington and Leland Coffee [sic] of San Diego, Calif.; and five sisters, Mary Shewmaker and Marian DeVore of Stonington, Helen Porter of Edinburg, Maxine Erwin of Arizona and Lillian Boldini of Stonington.


Roberta Jean Coffey and Herbert Leslie "Herb" Ribelin were married in September 1950. Herbert Leslie "Herb" Ribelin was born on 3 December 1927 in Moweaqua, Shelby Co., IL. Herbert died in Decatur, Macon Co., IL on 12 February 2015 and was buried at Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany, Moultrie Co., IL on 16 February 2015 .47313,47314

Herbert Leslie Ribelin, 87 of Stonington passed away on February 12, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Herb was born on December 3, 1927 in Moweaqua, Illinois, the firstborn son of Frank Leslie and Beulah Ribelin and graduated from Moweaqua High School in 1945. He married Roberta Jean Coffey of Stonington in September, 1950.& She passed away in May, 1981.& He then married Doris Ann Jenkins of Boody in 1983.& She passed away in January, 2010. Herb was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Naval Reserve and had the honor of participating in an Honor Flight in September, 2011.

Herb was a self-employed contractor in the Stonington area for over 50 years, building over 70 homes in the area.& He was a life member of Moweaqua Masonic Lodge #180. He also belonged to the Eastern Star and the Ansar Shrine. Herb was a founding member of the Shrine Ag Corps, noted for its antique red and green tractors.& He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stonington and the Stonington American Legion.

The home in which Seitz Funeral Home is housed was once owned by Herb’s grandparents.

He is survived by his son, Mark Ribelin (wife Claire) of Springfield; stepdaughters Kathy Lynn Lookabaugh of Decatur and Suzy Bauer (companion Clarence Rader) of Boody; brother, Jack Ribelin (wife JoAnne) of Champaign;& step-sister, Joyce Burdick-Gregory of Assumption; his grandchildren are Andrea and Bryce Ribelin, David Lookabaugh, Christy Holub, Brian Scott Bauer and Melissa Lookabaugh; along with a number of great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and two wives.

Services will be 10:00 am Monday, February 16, 2015 in First Baptist Church of Stonington. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.& Masonic Rights conducted by Moweaqua Lodge #180 will follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.
