Charles Lee "Ducky" Coffey, Sr., of Stuarts Draft went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2002. 

He passed away at home after battling a long illness.

Born September 15, 1926, he was the youngest son and last surviving child of Nelson Lee and Lucy Margaret Mutherspaw Coffey. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Odie James, Frank Henry, Clyde Preston, and Linwood Coffey, and sisters: Anna Mae Robertson and Ida Belle Noland; two half-sisters, Kitty and Tucker Weaver and a half-brother, Tommy Weaver. 
A World War II Army Veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1947.

After a long career as a big-rig truck driver, he retired from Houff's Transfer. During his career, he had also driven for many other trucking firms such as Smith's Transfer, Bonnie, Associated Transport, and Boward Tucking.
He loved studying about the War Between the States and was an avid camper. For him nothing was more enjoyable than reading a good book on Confederate history while camping with the family that was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Coffey; six children, daughters: Mae, Jean, Connie and Barbara; sons: Charles, Jr. and Anthony; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Chapel at Stuarts Draft by the Revs. Luther Witt and James Chappell. Burial followed in the White Hill Church of the Brethern Cemetery with military rites by Stuarts Draft V.F.W. Post 9339.

Mabel died in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 5 May 2019 and was buried at White Hill Church of the Brethern Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 10 May 2019 .²⁸⁹¹³

abel Cornelia (Benson) Coffey of Stuarts Draft, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2019 after a long and wonderful life. Born on March 10, 1929 at Barren Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Henry and Willie Cornelia (Drawbond) Benson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Coffey, Sr.; a daughter, Jean C. Varner, brothers, James William, Wallace Clyde, Robert Eugene, and George Preston Benson, and sisters, Mary “Merf” Henderson and Ruth DePriest. Survivors include her children, Mae C. Swartz (Peter), Constance Dorsey, Charles Lee Coffey, Jr. (Bj), Anthony Frank Coffey, Sr., and Barbara E. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the White Hill Church of the Brethren, 749 Old White Hill Rd., Stuarts Draft.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastors Dave and Jim Chappell and Rev. Luther Witt. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Varner, Jr., John David Simmons, Brandon and Brock Dorsey, Jacob Miska, and Trooper Callison.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
