He was enumerated as 44 and single. In the household was James Bell, age 19 and servants Jane Coffey, a mulatto female, age 50, James Sallee, a male mulatto age 26, and Harriet Buster, a black female, age 17. The 1890 Kentucky Veterans Schedule listed in Hustonville, Lincoln Co. Joseph Coffey, who had been a private in Co. A, 1st KY Cav from Dec. 11, 1861 to 29 Dec. 1864; total service 3 yrs, 18 days. He lived at Midgeville in Lincoln Co. and reported that he suffered from "piles." In 1900 there is a Joe Coffey in Hustonville, Lincoln Co. with wife named Catherine who he married c1880. Joe reported his birth information, including age, as "unk." Joseph Coffey and Mary E. Warden were married on 27 September 1859 in Wayne Co., KY.4426 Mary E. Warden was born circa 1841 in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY.4427 Mary died in Kentucky circa 1861. Joseph Coffey and Mary E. Warden had the following children:
Joseph Coffey and Maggie Ballard were married circa 1883 in Kentucky.4428 Coffey - Saunders - At Crab Orchard, yesterday, by Eld. J. G. Livingston, Mr. Joseph Coffey and the handsome widow, Mrs. Maggie B. Saunders, were united in marriage. The ceremony was in the Christian church, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and the couple was attended by the following persons: Miss Minnie Edmiston and Mr. Joe Sampel (?), Miss Kittie Higgins and Rev. J. R. Sanow, Miss Maggie Egbert and Mr. T. B. Carson, Miss Mary Jones and Mr. John Ballard. After a nice dinner at Mrs. Dillion's, Mr. and Mrs. Coffey, with Mr. Carson and Miss Edmiston, left for a trip to Cincinnati where they will remain several days. Mr. Coffey has been a good long time choosing a bride, but he got a pretty one at last and could afford to wait. Our best wishes attend them.
