Roy Sylvester Coffey and Mildred Cornett were married on 17 January 1948 in Burke Co., NC.³⁵³⁰⁸ Mildred Cornett was born on 20 February 1930 in Avery Co., NC. Mildred died on 10 October 2010 at the age of 80 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, Avery Co., NC and was buried at Fork Mountain Cemetery in Vale, Avery Co., NC on 13 October 2010.³⁵³⁰⁹

Mildred Cornett Coffey, age 80, of Newland passed away on Sunday October 10, 2010 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

A native of Avery County, she was born February 20, 1930 a daughter of Goss and Maude Sluder Cornett.

Mildred was a member of Vale Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to gospel, bluegrass and county music.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Roy Sylvester Coffey; her son, Randy Coffey; and two brothers, Amos and Raymond Cornett.

She has left to cherish her memories; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Paul Sluder of Newland; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Coffey of Newland; her granddaughter, Ashley Coffey McKinney and husband Adam also of Newland; her niece, Joyce Burleson and husband Larry of Newland.

The Coffey family will receive friends on Wednesday October 13th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Studivant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday October 14th 2:00 p.m. at Vale Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Huffman and Rev. Jeff McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Fork Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mildred to the American Cancer Society.
