1006. Chatham Coffee was born on 14 December 1825 in McMinnville, Warren Co., TN. Chatham resided with the William B. Smartt family in Warren Co., TN on 20 August 1850. He was the elected Captain of the 11th Regt.. TN Cavalry (Holman's) in September 1862.
In Oct., 1862, his company of men began to operate as partisan rangers under command of Major D. C. Douglas's battalion. They staged many raids behind Union lines in middle TN, especially around Nashville. After a reorganization of Confederate cavalry regiments, Chatham's company became Co. H. of the 11th Cav. Regiment commanded by Col. James H. Edmondson and was assigned to Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. Chatham survived the war and eventually returned to McMinnville and his family. He was then 40 years old and had served from the beginning to the end of the war. Chatham died on 6 March 1889 at the age of 63 in Warren Co., TN and was buried at Riverside Cemetery in McMinnville, Warren Co., TN.4114,4115

Chatham served during the Civil War in Co. H (originally Douglass' Battalion) of Holman's 11th Tenn. Cavalry Regiment.

Chatham Coffee and Mary Evelina Morford were married on 11 July 1850 in Warren Co., TN.4116 They4116 appeared in the census on 28 August 1860 in McMinnville, Warren Co., TN.4117 They4117 appeared in the census on 26 June 1880 in Warren Co., TN.4118 Mary Evelina Morford, daughter of Josiah Furman Morford and Jane B. Taylor, was born on 22 September 1831 in Warren Co., TN.835 She lived with her parents in Warren Co., TN on 15 November 1850. Mary died on 25 June 1890 at the age of 58 in Warren Co., TN and was buried at Riverside Cemetery in McMinnville, Warren Co., TN.835,4119
