Mrs. Coffey was born on September 5, 1913 in Amherst County, a daughter of the late Hiter Coffey and Mary Higgenbothem Coffey. She was a member of the Macedonia Methodist church in Coffeytown and was preceded in death by he husband, Leonard Coffey. Mrs. Coffey is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and David Townsend, Clinton, CT; one son, Thomas Coffey, Vesuvius; two brothers, Hiter Coffey, Wiley Coffey, both of Amherst; three sisters; Helen Keith Agricola; Hazel Humston, Roanoke; Mildred Ray, Waynesboro; two grandchildren: Katelyn Townsend and Benjamin Townsend. Graveside services were conducted at 111 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2002 in the Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. Murray Sallinger officiating. There was no visitation at the funeral home.
