Davis and Catherine Hudson, was born on 1 January 1832 in Virginia. He lived with his son William in Amherst Co., VA on 2 January 1920. Bennett died in January 1920 at the age of 88 in Amherst Co., VA and was buried at Bridge Hill Cemetery in Alto [Coffeytown], Amherst Co., VA.^13013,13014

Bennett's first wife was Nancy A. Staton, who he married on Dec. 20, 1855. She and their first born child died at childbirth.

Bennett was a farmer, Justice of the Peace for Pedlar Dist., and courier for the USPS between Alto and Amherst Courthouse. He was also a veteran of the Civil War.
