"Carrie" Curtis and William Columbus Coffey were married on 10 May 1866 in Wilkes Co., NC.1960,1961,1962 They1960,1961,1962 appeared in the census on 10 August 1870 in Watauga Co., NC.1963 They1963 appeared in the census on 7 June 1880 in Boone Twp., Watauga Co., NC.1964 William Columbus Coffey1949, son of McCaleb Coffey and Elizabeth Collett, was born on 3 April 1839 in Patterson Twp., Caldwell Co., NC. He lived with the Ezekiel Smith family in Butler, Johnson Co., TN on 3 July 1860. William enlisted in Co. I, 26th NC Infantry on 20 March 1862 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC and served with that unit during the Civil War..1950,1951 He appeared in the census on 1 June 1900 in Boone Twp., Watauga Co., NC.1952 William Columbus applied for his CW pension in Foscoe, Watauga Co., NC on 5 July 1909.1953 William died of influenza on 10 March 1920 at the age of 80 at home in Boone, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone City Cemetery in Boone, Watauga Co., NC on 12 March 1920.1954,1955,1956,1957,1958,1959

"Mr. T., F. Coffey, of Manning, S. C., who arrived last week in time for the burial of his father, Mr. W. C. Coffey, left for his home Tuesday.

"Mr. T. Stuard [sic] Coffey, of Statesville, attended the funeral of his uncle, Mr. W. C. Coffey, in Boone last Friday.

"Mrs. W. C. Coffey's four children, Mrs. Elizabeth Seay, of Lynchburg, Va., Mr. Worth Penn, of Emporia, Va., Mr. Shelton Penn, of Bluefield, West Va., and Miss Allye Henry Penn, of Logan College, Ky., arrived the day after the death of her husband, returning to the respective homes the first of the week."

Upon the death of William Columbus Coffey, the following notice was found:

"Notice of Dissolutions.

"The firm of T. J. Coffey & Bro., of Boone, N. C., has by mutual consent been dissolved, W. C. Coffey the brother mentioned in the first of T. J. Coffey & Bro., retiring therefrom, and Mollie E. Coffey widow of T. J. Coffey, and T. S. Coffey, Mary Elizabeth Councill and Margaret V. Rambo, heirs of said T. J. Coffey succeeding to the business. All debts owing to said firm are to be paid to the said widow and heirs of T. J. Coffey, and the said heirs of T. J. Coffey are to settle all just debts due from said form. This Aug. 6, 1904.

W. C. Coffey, M. E. Coffey, T. S. Coffey, W. B. Councill, Elizabeth Councill, I. S. Rambo, Margaret V. Rambo."

A similar notice followed this one in which it was announced the retirement of Margaret V. Rambo from the firm.
