Mary "Polly" Coffey was born on 7 December 1782.556 She appeared in the census on 24 August 1850 in Russell Co., KY.557 In 1860 she lived near Mahaly Coffey, sister of Fielding Coffey in Russell Co., KY and in 1870 she was living with her daughter Elizabeth Coffey Wolford in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY. Mary died in Kentucky on 10 March 1872 and her remains were cremated.558

Mary "Polly" Coffey and Elias "Eli" Coffey were married on 22 March 1801 in Green Co., KY.

Green Co., KY marriage records indicate that Mary was over the age of 21. Elias "Eli" Coffey, son of Salathiel Coffey and Elizabeth Gore, was born on 8 May 1775 in Wilkes Co., NC.96 He appeared in the census in 1810 in Columbia, Adair Co., KY.550 He appeared in the census on 7 August 1820 in Adair Co., KY.551 Eli appeared in the census on 1 June 1830 in Russell Co., KY.552 He made his will on 10 November 1832 in Russell Co., KY.

In the name of God amen. I Eli Coffey of Russell county and State of Kentucky, calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and knowing that all men have got to die to [sic] make this my last will and Testament in the following manner and form

My will and desire is that all of my property such as are land and stock of all description and house furniture and farming interests to belong to my wife Poly Coffey during her natural life and at her death an equal distribution to be made of all my property of any kind among my children My will and desire is that as my sons come of age for my wife to give them one horse briale [sic] [bridle] and saddle apiece and I appoint Acillis [sic] Coffey my sole execution of this my last will and testament In witness where of I herewite [sic] set my hand and seal this 10th day of November 1832

Eli signed with his mark.

Nebuzaradan Coffey and William Payne were witnesses.

[Misspellings abound and there is a lack of punctuation throughout the will.] Elias died in Russell Co., KY on 18 July 1833.96,553 He had his estate probated on 9 December 1833 in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY.554,555

I Eli Coffey of Russell county and State of Kentucky, calling to mind the unvertainty of human life and knowing that all men have got to die to make this my last will and testament in the following manner and form

My will and desire is that all of my property such as my land and stock of all description and houses furniture and farming utensils to belong to my wife Poly Coffey during her normal life and at her death an equal distribution to be made of all my property of every kind among my children. My will and desire is that as my sons come of age for my wife to give them one horse, bridle and saddle apiece and appoint Acilles Coffey my sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this 10 day of November 1832.

At a county court began and held in James Town for the county of Russell at the hourt house on Monday the 9th day of December 1833, This day the Last Will and Testament of Eli Coffey decd waas produced in open court and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that Nebuzaraden Coffey a subscribing witness thereunto is now deceased whereupon Willie (?) Patterson made attest that th signature of the dec Nebuzaraden Coffey was his genuine signature and that dec will be (a record?) to be recorded
