John L. Coffey, age 75, died at his home at Elk Ridge last Saturday morning, after an illness of some months, following a fall in which he broke his hip.

He was born and has always lived in the Elk Spring Valley country. He married Miss Neva Lair, who survives him, he is also survived by the following children: Romer Coffey of Monticello, Mrs. Chas. Adams of Longview, Texas; Mrs. Thomas Flynn of Monticello; Mrs. Ruth Jones of Steubenville; Mrs. Ethel Coffey of Lexington; Mrs. Mayme Smith and Henry Coffey, both of Indianapolis, Ind.

Funeral services were held at the Elk Ridge Methodist Church by Rev. Frank Frogge, with burial at the Lair Cemetery. [sic]
