Mrs. Coffey was born Aug. 27, 1891 in Avery County, to the late Scott and Margaret Coffey. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherman Coffey; a son, Cuba M. Coffey, and one daughter, Cordelia Coffey. Survivors include two sons, Willie Coffey and Horace R. Coffey, both of Lenoir; 10 daughters, Carolyn Pearson of Charlotte, Delores Gragg of McArthur, W. Va., Mildred Holland of Goldsboro, Cenie Coffey of Roseborough, Lorraine Corley and Colleen Annas, both of Hudson, and Ollie Hollander, Onnie Gragg, Molly Jones, and Doris Setzer, all of Lenoir; 49 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Poovey's Chapel Baptist [sic], with the Rev. H. Dean Harold officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Roseborough. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
