Fitzgerald, 90, died at 6 p.m., Monday at her home, Route 1, Roseland (Nelson County). Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of the Beech Grove Christian Church. She was born at Tyro July 14, 1878, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Nannie J. Coffey. She was the widow of James Robert Fitzgerald who died Feb. 8, 1953. Mrs. Fitzgerald was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by five sons, Dewey L. Fitzgerald and J. Owen Fitzgerald, both of Lynchburg; R. Shelby Fitzgerald and Lawney N. Fitzgerald, both of Beech Grove, and Clyde B. Fitzgerald of Lyndhurst; one daughter, Miss Annie Fitzgerald of Beech Grove; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beech Grove Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. J. D. Farries, assisted by Ben Bowen. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friends will be received from 7 to 8 tonight at the Etter Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Fitzgerald, Wayne Fitzgerald, J. R. Palmer, Clyde Fitzgerald, Rex Vencill, Roger Robertson, Jimmie Belvin, and Ronnie Campbell. Flowerbearers will be members of the Beech Grove Christian Church. After 1880 Clara did not appear with the family in any census record. Mr. Fitzgerald was born May 31, 1873, in Tyro, son of the late Napoleon and Cass Blackwell Fitzgerald. He was a member of the Beech Grove Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Clayton Coffey Fitzgerald; five sons, Dewey L. and Joseph O., both of Lynchburg; Robert S. and Lawney, both of Beech Grove; and Clyde B., Lyndhurst; two daughters, Mrs. George O'Brien and Miss Annie Fitzgerald, both of Beech Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Taylor, Covesville and Mrs. Gertrude Meeks, Route 3, Staunton; step-mother, Mrs. Rose E. Fitzgerald, Beech Grove. Also surviving are four half-brothers, Thomas and Raymond Fitzgerald, both of Beech Grove; Hoy and Tucker Fitzgerald, both of Lynchburg; one half-sister, Mrs. Effie Hicks, Boomer, W. Va.; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home and will be placed in the Beech Grove Christian Church tomorrow at 1 p.m. where service will be held at 2 p.m. Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Lambdin, assisted by the Rev. John L. McKinney, the Rev. Joseph Watson and the Rev. John Suttonfield. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews.
