Death of Cleve Coffee, 62, pioneer west Texan, lawyer, and father of Misses Leo and Ada Coffee and Norman Coffee of Borger, was made known yesterday in a telegram. The end came at Reserve, N.M., where Mr. Coffee had been with his wife for some months.

The elder Mr. Coffee was among the first lawyers coming to Borger, and was connected with the law firm of Coffee, Holmes and Buckley. He left Borger in May, 1928 on account of poor health.

Funeral services will take place tomorrow afternoon at the old home at Miami.

One sister, six brothers, and seven children survive, besides Mrs. Mattie L. Coffee, the widow. They are Mrs. C.B. Locke, Abilene, W. Coffee, Amarillo, L.A. Coffee, Skellytown, H.C. Coffee, Morse, J.V. Coffee, Miami, G.L. Coffee, Plainview, M.R. Coffee, Perryton.

Children are C.M., Miami, Norman, Borger, F.T., Globe, Ariz., Mrs. J.C. McCarley, Lubbock, Mrs. Harry Bier, Greeley, Colo., Ada and Leo, Borger, and William, Miami.

Coffee was known throughout the Panhandle and west Texas as a long-time resident, and through his professional connections. [Contributor Edith Guynes Stanley]

Miami, Roberts Co., Texas, Aug. 8. - Funeral services were held for C. Coffee, 62, with all the towns of this section of the Panhandle represented, as he was one of the old-time settlers of this section and was District Attorney for this Thirty-First Judicial District as far back as 1897. He had made his home in Miami for about thirty years. He is survived by his wife and either children, six brothers and one sister.

Cleaveland C. Coffee and Mattie Lenora Swagerty were married on 31 December 1890 in Texas. They appeared in the census on 29 June 1900 in Roberts Co., TX.²³³⁹⁰ They²³³⁹⁰ appeared in the census on 27 April 1910 in Tarrant Co., TX.²³³⁹¹ Cleaveland and Mattie²³³⁹¹ appeared in the census on 7 February 1920 in Roberts Co., TX.²³³⁹² Mattie Lenora Swagerty, daughter of W. T. Swagerty and Lucy King, was born on 15 December 1871 in Hunt Co., TX. She appeared in the census on 4 April 1930 in Miami, Roberts Co., TX.²³³⁹³ Mattie died senility on 21 July 1959 at the age of 87 at 116 North Avondale St. in Amarillo, Potter Co., TX and was buried at Miami Cemetery in Miami, Roberts Co., TX on 23 July 1959.^{23394,23395,23396}
